Therapy and Telehealth FAQs | Amy Ballard, LPC, LCPC, SEP
How does telehealth therapy work?
Telehealth therapy allows you to meet with me through a secure, HIPAA compliant video platform called Simple Practice from the comfort of your home. You’ll receive the same personalized care as in-person sessions, with the added flexibility of meeting wherever you feel most at ease. All sessions are HIPAA-compliant and confidential, available to clients throughout Arkansas, Illinois, and Wisconsin.
What issues do you specialize in?
I specialize in helping adults and couples heal from trauma, anxiety, and stress-related challenges. I also support clients navigating relationship difficulties, self-esteem concerns, or patterns of worry and overthinking. My practice is LGBTQ-affirming, and I’m dedicated to creating a space where every client feels safe, respected, and supported.
Can somatic experiencing work in online therapy?
Somatic Experiencing (SE) works very well in a telehealth setting. It focuses on body awareness and noticing sensations—no touch or in-person interaction is required.
In online sessions, I guide you to slow down, tune into your body, and track patterns of tension or stress. Together, we gently help your nervous system find balance and release stored activation, all from the comfort of your own space.
Many clients find that doing SE at home actually feels safer and more grounding, which can enhance the work. I’m here to help you stay present, move at a comfortable pace, and support your body’s natural ability to heal.
Do you accept insurance or private pay?
Yes, I accept the following insurance:
Ambetter
Blue Cross Blue Shield
Cigna
Evernorth
Health Advantage
Medicare
Optum
Qualchoice
United Healthcare
UMR
I also offer private pay therapy and can provide a detailed receipt (called a superbill) if you’d like to submit it to your insurance for possible reimbursement. Feel free to give me a call to get more information about payment options.
How do I schedule a session?
You can simply schedule by clicking here: Request Appointment, calling or sending me an email. I will respond to your email or call and/or confirm your online request promptly. You will then receive an email from me containing a link to the secure video session as well as to some initial paperwork to help us get started. Beginning therapy is simple— and your first step towards feeling calmer, grounded and more connected.
